Mardi Himal is a new virgin route which was officially opened in 2012 in association with TAAN (Trekking Agency’s Association of Nepa)l. This Himal is also known as Hidden treasure of Natural beauty of Annapurna Region and lies in east of Annapurna region. As this route is a brand new trekking trail, you will see less tourist comparing with other trekking trail like Annapurna Base camp, Annapuran Century, Ghorepani Poonhill etc.  The main features of Mardi Himal trek is Jhinu Hotspring and Ghandruk village which is mostly populated with Gurung cast people with their own unique cultural, languages and Nepali ancient style houses and it have their Gurung Museum.  The Mountain views are magnificent from each and every trails, villages and viewpoints.The exotic and interesting trail wanders through lush valleys, alpine meadows, lichen-laden dense forests, numerous streams and waterfalls, all the while the fascinating mountain sceneries glossy upon the close horizon. The path is so less used and non touristy that you feel like embarking upon a discovery expedition.The trek starts from the beautiful Pokhara city with a chance of boating and the magnificent views of snow cappde mountains surrounding the beautiful city all  around. The trail follows through the pine, Juniper and Rhododendron dense forest with a beautiful rice terrance field.Mardi Himal trek contains all the elements of classic Nepali trekking including Panoramic view of Himchuli, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre and magical views of Rhododendron while entering into the forest. This trek starts from Kande after driving one hour from pokhara .Within 4-14 days. You will complete this trek on the highest 4500m above sea level (Mardi Himal Base Camp).

Day to day itinerary:

  • Day 1:Arrive in Kathmandu
  • Day 2:Kathmandu to Pokhara (6 hrs drive)
  • Day 3:Pokhara to Pothana (1,970m) 5 hrs walk
  • Day 4:: Pothana to Forest Camp (2,550m) 7 hrs walk
  • Day 5:Forest Camp to Low Camp (3,035m) 4 hrs walk
  • Day 6:Low Camp to High Camp (3,590m) 4 hrs walk
  • Day 7:Hike to Upper View Point (4,200m) & back to High Camp (3,590m) 4.5 hrs walk
  • Day 8:High Camp to Siding Village (1,280m) 7 hrs walk
  • Day 9:Siding Village to Pokhara (2.5 hr walk & 1 hr drive)
  • Day 10:Pokhara to Kathmandu

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 1Arrive in Kathmandu
    After your arrival at the airport in Kathmandu you will be greeted by one of our representatives who will later transfer you to the hotel. After hotel check in you can decide whether you would like to have a relaxing rest at the hotel or hang around the streets of Kathmandu (If you have leisure time). You will be briefed about our next day’s travel plan by our company representative. O/N at the Hotel.
  • Day 2Kathmandu to Pokhara (6 hrs drive)
    We are all set to set off to the magical city of Pokhara today. We will either board a flight or drive to Pokhara by bus or in a private vehicle. The flight to Pokhara offers a great view of Himalayan range and mystical landscape of Nepal. If we drive to Pokhara we will have a great opportunity to discover the beautiful rivers, green forests, hills and magnificent Himalayas. It will take us about five to six hours to reach Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara our representative will escort you to the hotel where you stay for the night. O/N at the Hotel.
  • Day 3Pokhara to Pothana (1,970m) 5 hrs walk
    Our trekking expedition begins today. We leave Pokhara early in the morning and catch a bus or private vehicle that will drive us to Phedi. From Phedi we take the trail that steeply ascends up the hill to reach Dhampus. On the way we enjoy the magnetic views of Annapurna range and Mount Manaslu along with other Himalayas. Trekking further we will reach Pothana. O/N Lodge.
  • Day 4: Pothana to Forest Camp (2,550m) 7 hrs walk
    We wake up early in the morning, have our breakfast and gear up to walk for approximately 7 hours to reach the forest camp today. We pass through the dense forest all day long. The magnificent views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna will make our expedition more vibrant and lively. On our way we may spot some wild
    Animals like Leopards, Deer, etc. along with varieties of birds. We reach the forest camp in the afternoon. O/N Lodge.
  • Day 5Forest Camp to Low Camp (3,035m) 4 hrs walk
    We will have to walk inside the forest for another day but as we reach higher the vegetation changes with more rhododendron trees. This is another pleasant day for us letting us walk in the peaceful route. The trail is steep at the beginning however changes to gradual climbing after awhile. We will have some random views of snowy Himalayan peaks. The view of Machhapuchhre peak is superb from Low Camp.
    This is very small places with only couple of lodges opened for providing basic meals and accommodation to trekkers. O/N Lodge.
  • Day 6Low Camp to High Camp (3,590m) 4 hrs walk
    We have another pleasant walking here with stunning views of close Himalayas in front of us. As we climb higher the route also becomes open and spacious as there is no forest anymore. The trail continues through grasslands of high region with occasional rhododendron trees. Spotting the beautiful bird called Himalayan Monal; also known as the impeyan monal, impeyan pheasant and danphe in Nepali is easy around here. This is a colorful Himalayan bird represented as the national bird of Nepal. Finally, we will arrive to High Camp to spend a night here. O/N Lodge.
  • Day 7Hike to Upper View Point (4,200m) & back to High Camp (3,590m) 4.5 hrs walk
    We will wake up early in the morning before the sun rises. The plan is to watch sunrise over the Himalayas. We will then return back to lodge where we will be served with our breakfast. We have time to rest before we start hiking up to the upper view point for magnificent views of close Himalayan peaks. The trail heading to Upper View Point is well marked through the grassland involves few steep sections. In overall this is moderate walk, not too easy and not too challenging as well. In summer season this area is full of yaks and sheep along with several yak herders' huts. There are some narrow and steep trails that extensive care is required. O/N Lodge.
  • Day 8High Camp to Siding Village (1,280m) 7 hrs walk
    We descend to the low camp from the same trail we went up. We then leave the previous trail and trek via forest heading towards Madi Khola. Descending further we will reach the Siding Village where we camp for the night. O/N Lodge.
  • Day 9Siding Village to Pokhara (2.5 hr walk & 1 hr drive)
    We descend down to Lumre passing through the Tamang and Gurung Village. We will stop our trekking adventure upon reaching Lumre and catch a vehicle that will drive us to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara you may choose to walk around the lakeside or spend couple of time buying token of love to your loved ones. O/N at Hotel.
  • Day 10Pokhara to Kathmandu
    We will drive back to Kathmandu by bus or on a private vehicle today. Driving back to Kathmandu is a great fun as it offers wonderful views of beautiful rivers, landscapes and traditional villages on our way back. Upon reaching Kathmandu we will organize a farewell dinner at an authentic Nepali restaurant. The traditional dances and cultural shows at the restaurants would be a great opportunity to understand the Nepali culture and tradition. After the dinner we will get back to the hotel for the overnight stay. O/N at Hotel.
