Helambu trek, a one week trek that can start from and finish in the Kathmandu valley itself, does not offer superb mountain scenery but is culturally interesting. The maximum height reached is 3490m and there is plenty of accommodation along the route. Still it is a good idea to carry sleeping bag.
The Helambu trek is a very easy and short trek that starts from nearby Kathmandu city in north called Sundarijal. The trekking in Helambu is famous with friendly Sherpa people in favourable climate. The trail leads the trek to Gosainkunda lake and we need to get an entry at Shivapuri Wild life Reserve there. Sundarijal water fall and wildlife often attract the tourists and Kathmandu people for the sight seeing .
The trek starts from 1300m and takes you to 3600m high up. People here are diverse groups and we can meet several highland Tamang and Sherpa villages people , scattered on both sides of the Malemchi Khola.
The most important benefit of this trek is that the area is less crowded, free from noise in comparison to the Annapurna trek or some parts of the Everest treks. Besides, the trek offers a wide range of cultures and spectacular scenery.
